  • Jeep XJ Question for build

I am looking at obtaining a 98/99XJ for a daily driver and wanted to get everyone's opinion on parts for building a daily that can still hit some medium difficult trails. I would like to keep the build cost around 3-4K not including the vehicle price. This would be my first 4x4 so any help is appreciated.

    So far I am thinking:
3/3.5 inch lift, not sure of brand, recommendations welcome
    Front Bumper with winch mount
Rear bumper with spare tire carrier
Looking for recommendation for tires and wheels (unless I can keep the factory ones)
I've been looking on www.expeditionportal.com and found some interesting drawer system ideas and an interior cargo rack http://www.dirtboundoffroad.com/camp...r-cargo-shelf/

Rusty's 4.5" lift kit with 33" tires will do you nicely. Wheels are unimportant, tires the KM2 or the mt/r kevlar tires are great.

The Rusty's 4.5 inch suspension kit comes with everything needed to easily run 32 inch tires. It also gives you the clearance to maneuver through all types of terrain with no tire clearance problems. The addition of Rusty's Cut Out Flares will easily let you clear a set of 33 inch tires! Rusty's has put together a comp

Winch mount for the front, look at the Detours Back bone system. You can mount a winch and still run the stock bumper, it really cuts down on weight. They also make a real nice rear bumper that isn't too heavy.

X2 I have the rustys 4.5 on my xj. It flexes decently. I'd upgrade to a decent pair of shocks bc the rustys ones that come with the kit are complete crap. Look into some OME or bilsteins. I'd also spend the extra on the adjustable lower arms.

At 4.5 you'll also wanna do a t-case drop (I think included with the kit) or a SYE. Check out NAXJA.org and cherokeeforum
