What are the good and the bad in the Wagoneer world? What issues did they have? Are some year models better than others?

I was asked if I'd be interested in my uncles '83 Wagoneer, was told it runs and drives, don't know much else about it. I figured for $1500 what the hell, but thought I'd get more info. TIA

I got a 79 free one time. I could have bought a nice TJ for what it cost me while rebuilding it. I did go a little extreme though. I will admit I had to drag it up on a trailer out of the field it had been in for 10 years.
