I scuffed them with a brillo pad, primed & painted them with satin black.

          • More progress. Install 4.88's up front, lockright locker, and HD tie rod. Also did some SRC bumpers front and rear. Came out pretty nice, I'm happy with it. Sorry for the shitty cell pics.

Next comes a winch, then the new fenders and cutting the hood to get me another 3" of tire clearance (which I clearly need as you can see). I have a light bar to go above the windshield, then repainting the various replaced body panels from the roll over, and finally some sliders, bed liner interior, and a new cage.

            • take a look into using airsoft bb's or dynabeads($$$) to balance those tires

I just wanted to throw this out here, if any of you guys need to balance tires and don't want to mess with adding weights to the wheels, try the trick of adding airsoft pellets inside the wheels. I have done this on three sets of tires so far, a set of 31-10.50"s, 33-12.50"s and 35-12.50"s. I have to say, it

I don't have that issue anymore, but I mentioned that months ago in this very thread

                • Got some new fenders. Highlined the fenders as planned - Moved the front clip up 3" to get a bunch more clearance. Next comes paint and winch.

Should look a lot better when I get the hood under control and get the latches on.

                      • CJ you must have a ton of faith in that D30. Do you have chromo shafts or just stockers? Might wanna look into an upgrade if you're planning on wheeling with those 35s

Sidenote, great looking rig. Love the highline. What kind of work went into that? I want to get more clearance for flex but it seems for the labor and price of it I'd be better of just getting some tube fenders.

As long as you're not an idiot a D30 will do you just fine. I have 4.88's and a locker in it as well as shafts. I don't mud or bounce my jeep 2' in the air when I'm crawling and I've never had an issue. I know several guys that crawl 37's with D30's. I've done severeal 4 diamond trails with it. The only guys I've seen break them were fools and idiots. I carry two front axle spares with me in the back of my jeep wherever I go as well.

It cost me $50 to highline and I have much more clearance than tube fenders. If your front fenders are not screwed up it would cost you $0.

no doubt on the D30... Mine lasted for a year of solid abuse with 37s, SBC, and me driving like the before mentioned idiots in my 87 YJ.. Just looked a little weird with a d30 front and full width 9" rear. When it grenaded it came apart in spectacular fashion but that was operator error.

                            • x2, D30's hold up fine when you wheel like CJ... calculated. As long as he avoids ledge climbing he'll be fine. On a side note, thanks for having me up this weekend buddy, I'll have you down to my place soon so we can do mine.

Another pic I took, one side done.
