I live about a 1/2 mile if that from a small airport. It's a 1 mile runway so you can hang it out for about 3/4 of a mile before you have to stand in the brakes.

They allow you to go out there and top out whenever??

The guys that claim that the tires spun off of the rims need to do a little more research. The spring in the valve stem is not strong enough to keep it closed above a certain RPM depending on how far it is from the center of rotation. There are special valve stems made for just this sort of application.

If you are talking about where the hood meets the fenders, then they do it to smooth the body and get rid of the gaps between body panels that traps air.

yeah, just look around and if you don't see any planes & your ok. I don't really spend a afternoon out on runway or anything. I've raced A few cars and make a pass every once in awhile. Good times.
