Got a new camera...trying to learn this whole SLR thing. Damn it takes a lot of light for a good pic. Here are a couple that I took. The last one needs more work...they are all shot in raw on a Nikon D5000

Try turning the ISO up so you can use a faster shutter speed. Pics look good, though.

Thanks Jeremy. Im paranoid about grainy photos with the ISO up. The max shot there was 800iso.

Hoping to pick up a better lens than the stock one sometime.

I wouldn't worry that much about it, you shouldn't notice much grain at a higher ISO, since it's a newer camera, that mostly only happens on older cameras like mine, lol. Buy a 50mm 1.8, they're usually like 100 bucks, and take great pictures.

With a D5000 you can definitely bump that ISO up man. Doesnt even look that dark in your pictures honestly. In fact Id max the ISO out and drop it down till youre comfortable with it just so you can feel out the range. Ive been messing with my ISO a lot latley, gotta love technology

If the D5000 uses the sensor I'm thinking it does, it should shoot pretty clean at ISO 6400.

couple more... These were shot with a Sigma f2.8 70-200. While I still dont know exactly what Im doing, the bokeh is MUCH better. Amazing how a 2.8 aperture makes all the difference

probably going to hit up the zoo this weekend
