You wouldn't replace "a push rod with another pushrod" but you'd replace a rotary or a DOHC with a pushrod engine?
The LS1 is so far superior to a mod motor it's not even funny. Yes I understand what can be done with a mod motor when you throw away everything stamped FoMoCo, but I'm talking about a straightforward street engine. They generally lag about 100hp behind... I'm sure you know...
To clear things up, I was referring to swapping to keep a V8 platform
Of course the LSX engines are stout from the factory but I wouldnt say they are way better than mod motors
Throw away everything FoMoCo? hmm no (you can make huge power with stock blocks, stock heads, sometimes even stock intake and internals)
The whole mod craze started with the 03-04 cobras and now that the new 5.0 are out its going to get even crazier
C6 Z06 7.0 - dyno 430-440 hp
Coyote 5.0 - dyno 380-390 hp
Boss 5.0 - dyno 415-430 hp stable past 8,000 rmp stock
Yea, I see where the LSX is superior (more cubic inches)
Throw in some boost and its a whole different ball game
I really like the LSX platform: smaller size, simple and proven but dont knock the mod's as they are bad ass too

Looks to be offset to clear the master cylinder. Also looks like they used a hydro-boost brake booster. They could have probably centered it up more if they just went with manual brakes, unless the steering shaft was also in the way.
