In case someone couldn't figure it out they were separating by metal types. That's more of a metal recycling plant than a salvage yard. None of those parts are reusable.

Salvage yards here will typically pull the drivetrain and suspension and store the rest of the car in a yard. Depending on the car they might warehouse the doors, lights, some interior pieces but most of the time the whole car minus engine/trans sits out in a field for a few months. Some yards will have exporters come in and pick the cars clean before crushing them for scrap. Whatever is left after gets crushed and hauled off to a smelter where they separate the metal after it's melted.
