To further explain the channeling, the entire floor pan was cut out of the Buick and the body was lifted off the original chassis.
Then the Caprice body was cut off of the floor pan and left attached to the chassis. The Buick body was then lowered down 6" over the Caprice chassis and floor pan, and "extension" pieces were welded in to mate the Buick body to the Caprice floor pan.
