Truer words have rarely been spoken. I will buy that motherfucker as many ribs as he can eat and as many beers as he can drink just to have my picture taken with him.
Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.
He makes sense. People think their piss-ant amount of money is going to buy them a car that looks great and has low mileage and everything works. That is a rare find and it damn sure ain't happening at a used car lot. You're way better off buying off an individual that has owned the car for years. At least then you can get the sense of whether or not it was owned by someone that had any brains and gave a fuck about their vehicle. If it has wound up at a used car lot, its likely someone else's trash or their problem.
Talked to a used car dealer that was in the business for 35 years, he said all he ever found at an auction was another man's trash.
I don't see a scamola here, pretty straight forward.

This year was as bad as I have ever seen it on picky customers. I can walk you through some of my worst hits as a car dealer.
2006 Sebring Convertible. 94k miles on this son of a bitch. Ran and drove perfectly, not a single mechanical problem on it, all of the accessories worked, top was great, etc. I thought for sure this sucker would go to the first person that saw it. Had it up for $3k out the door, guy came all the way up from Austin, test drove the car, and proceeded to cuss my ass out over 10 hail dings that were clearly visible in the picture. I matched his rudeness and told him to go look at the shit available in dallas and then call me.
2010 Chrysler 300. 96K miles. Ran and drove perfectly, no mechanical problems, all accessories worked, etc. Had a scrape on the bumper, looked like someone hit a guide pole at the bank. Sold it for $4200 out the door, because EVERYONE bitched about the scrape...
2000 Corvette M6. Ran and drove perfectly. Active handling light was on because I couldn't find the part to fix it. Sunset orange paint was OK on it, fugly crocodile interior. Car ran like a scalded ass dog. $8k is all I could squeak out.
97 Mustang cobra. 107K miles, clean carfax, ran and drove perfectly, all accessories worked. 4.10 gears, SLP exhaust, was faded to laser pink. $5000 out the door.
2007 Kia Sportage. Ugly bastard, dented rocker panel, 180K miles, ran and drove great, got like $1700 out the door.
2003 Tahoe. 187K, looked like brand fucking new inside, paint peeled on the hood. Got like $3500 out the door for it.
2010 Cadillac DTS. Ran and drove perfectly, no issues. $5500 out the door due to 165K miles.
In every instance, I was the cheapest mother fucker in a three state radius, well below KBB, and had to wait months to get a buyer. This is why I am running away screaming from the car business.
The auction comment is right. I've been doing this for 7 years and I can count on one hand how many perfect cars that I've gotten from the auctions. Most of it needs some kind of repair.
