  • Got Some Work Done on the Truck

I've made a bunch of changes to my '05 F250 this year. Figured I might as well show it off.

Here is a pic of how it looked before:

Back in January, the old lady was driving and we hit some ice on a mountain pass here in CO, slid into a snow bank, and rolled it over onto the passenger side. Luckily no one was hurt. Here's a couple shots of that:

So, I figured this was a good time to start making some changes I'd been thinking about for a while. My truck is mainly a trail rig, so I wanted bumpers and a winch. I knew that just putting black bumpers on would add another color, and I didn't want to do that. I considered paint-matching them either white or tan, but I figured changing the whole truck to black and white would be a better look. I decided to get rid of the tan two-tone and also every bit of chrome. So, I started ordering stuff, and it got out of hand in a hurry! Fab Fours bumpers, Bushwacker cutout flares, Line-X on that stuff and also on the rockers to cover up the tan, Warn 16.5ti winch, new grille, 20x12 Ultra wheels, 40x15.5 Toyos, Powerstop brakes, PSC steering box and ram assist, black emblems and decals all the way around, and personalized plates. I went with smoked headlights just to get rid of the last bit of chrome, but they killed the brightness, so I'm switching those back to the stockers today until I come up with a better solution. It also got a new Powermax turbo with a wicked wheel, a new intake, and more custom tunes. I'm finishing up the last bits and pieces of my onboard air install as we speak, and it's pretty over the top.

Anyway, here are some recent pics:

    Thanks for checking it out!

Damn, I thought it looked great before, now that bitch looks like a monster. I wouldn't change the HLs, I'd add a LED light bar or an extra set of HID's or LEDs in place of the bumper amber lamps...

For the headlights, buy some HID replacements with black housing. Will give the dark/black look you want and still be brighter than the stock Halogens.

          Good looking truck!

              Good looking truck!
I'll have to have some made (or make them myself). There aren't any decent ones available for this truck that are turnkey, at least not that I have found.

I use Sportiva HID kits, they are AC with converters, all digital and very small. They have a separate power supply box which makes mounting them with 2 sided tape a breeze. They have both 35w and 55w kits.

I'm definitely going to add some lights. Probably a black-housing LED bar hidden behind the mesh grill, and then I'm going to have some holes cut in the angled part of the front bumper and put in some flush mount LED flood pods. I'll probably do the same pods in the rear bumper, too. Then, rock lights. But I do drive this to Texas and back a few times a year, so I want good stock-ish lighting for the road trip, and wouldn't ever run my LED light bar on the highway at night - that shit is annoying! Same goes for putting HIDs in the foglight cups in the bumper - it just wouldn't be right.

I'd have to retrofit my housing to use HIDs correctly. I'm not a fan of just throwing in a kit with a housing that's made for halogen bulbs.

If you are close to Denver hit up Truck Fest next weekend. I have it on good authority there will be some good deals on LED lights, and light bars.

5 hours, but I probably would if I didn't have company in town.
