  • Green Valley 1966

Pretty cool video of the races at Green Valley back in 1966. 20 years later, I would have my chance to run down that same track, with it's great uphill shut-down. I felt so grown up getting to run side-by-side with so many big names, and down the same track as so many others had for so long. It makes me so sad every time I drive past there on Davis Blvd. I can still see cars turning in to get to the track, I can still see the nearby convenience stores packed with people getting refreshments before and after the races. It's sad that so many people will never get to experience that wonderful track that Big Daddy Don Garlits himself told me was one of his absolute favorites.
    Anyway, here's the vid:

Ok, now I'm 20 minutes into it and you definitely have to watch that too.

It really is a slice of local and motorsports history.

I think a lot of people in the car scene around here would be surprised to learn how many roots can be traced back to there.

Just about everyone's roots can be traced back to Dick.

Yep. It's really sad. Drove past there this evening.
