Not related to internet speed but computer speed, I remember having Mr Gasket Desktop Dyno on a computer back years ago and it would take 20+ minutes to run one simulation on it. I down loaded it into another computer a couple years later and it was less than a minute to run. Now days, its done as soon as you hit the enter button.

I started out on Prodigy, before AOL got big. Those chicks were fucking SHAMELESS. To this day, some of the craziest shit I've seen in my life happened at those parties.

I met my Junior prom date on Prodigy. He was going to school at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and had just sent me a 'pm' saying he had family in Keller. We ended up writing back and forth for a month or so, then started talking on the phone (before long distance plans-my parents almost killed me), then his dad came down to meet us on a business trip. Once my parents met his dad, they were cool with him coming down for a weekend. He ended up taking me to my Junior prom.

I applied to school there and we were going to get an apartment, but about two weeks before I was supposed to leave, I backed out. I had never been on my own and I was only 17 so I was scurred.

Some people still can't get anything better than dial-up. I have a friend, in Virginia, just a shirt drive from DC, that can't get DSL, he can't get cable, he can't get fiber. He has to tether his phone to do anything on the Internet, and there's a cell tower only JUST WITHIN range for him to get half a signal. I feel sorry for him because he's an awesome gamer and an amazing knowledgable computer buff.
