  • My turbo Wrangler install

Thought I would throw up some pics of the turbo install on my 08 JKU. Iv had it for 4 years and always hated the performance of the 3.8l v6. Its a total dog to put it mildly. I decided to throw it some boost and here is the result. its incredible what a difference a 100 additional hp makes. Big thanks to inline6 from the board for all your help.
    The start

    almost done

    finished

I cant believe the difference 8lbs of boost makes.

    That's a pretty slick setup.

I still cant believe you did that without pulling the radiator / condenser out. I literally have no idea how you pulled that off with how tight everything is in there and with what a PITA some of the bolts are to get to.

Ignorant question, but is the newer 3.6L so different that it couldn't be a near bolt up?

83 oem reliable hp increase just seems like it would have been a good consideration before 100hp~ from a turbo build. . . but not nearly as cool as the turbo.

No it would be easier to buy a new vehicle than make that 3.6 work in a 3.8 vehicle. And the trans is different.

He is being a little light on the HP gain esitmate as well. That kit is proven to add more like 140hp.

Bad ass. Would love to turbo my 09 cj. Hell my 97jk would be a ton of fun with a little boost action.

Even if the 3.6 makes more HP...that 3.8 with a turbo would smash the torque numbers of the 3.6. Thats gotta be one torquey sumbitch.

Do you mean '09 JK and '97 TJ?

I'm pretty happy with the power in my 2012 with the 3.6. I mean, of course it would be cooler with more, but so far I haven't had the need.

Not sure. For me it was easy. It came with the kit. It was spot on with no issues.

I agree the 3.6 is a far better option than the 3.8. If had it i would probably not even consider added the turbo. If u evver get a chance to drive a stock 3.8, u will be amazed at how underpowered it is compared to the 3.6.

I've driven one, but it was in the minivan they used it in for years.
