I'm not sure how I feel about this.

First off, to me the Cop asked a stupid question that unnecessarily made the situation more tense than it needed to be.

We don't know what happened before the camera (from the lady's family) turn on to record, so we don't know what transpired before that got us to that point.


The use of force from the phone's viewpoint and after hindsight seems excessive.

However, putting myself in the cop's shoes, being solo, having an irate person in front of me, and then having someone else that is connected with the the irate person come from the side, damn close to me, in a tense situation, without me being forewarned?

How much of that was CopBro douchbaggery (especially knowing he's being live streamed) and how much of it was fight or flight response?

This is going to be explosive....lady was yelling which didn't help, cop telling lady how to raise her kid without investigating the alleged assault on her kid...thats the big one...its already made national news even out here in Albuquerque. I wouldn't want to be a white cop patrolling Fort Worth for a while.

Cop made a pretty dumb statement regardless of what the other guy told him.

I am betting that the story about the 7yo is heavy sensationalized by the parents. Maybe the cop found this out before making said statement. I have heard lots of time in my career about someone being choked that was actually not when it is thoroughly investigated/ explained out.

I mean has the kid been a nuisance for a while and the guy confronted him finally, but at 7yo, really, get the fuck over it. Cop goes around to make contact, yet the whole family roles up and starts pushing the issue? Or, was the guy a "get off my lawn" type of asshole and the kid dropped something. I wonder how far down the street he lived also.

I try my best to never berate the victim or anyone until it has all been figured out and everyone is satisfied. Then I say some off the wall shit sometimes. But most of the time it is over pride and misunderstandings. I have a hard time working some of these things around on what I would do as I deal with people wayyyyy different than most guys. He did needlessly escalate the situation and could have presented what ever he was trying to present a little better.
