Joe Morello with the Dave Brubeck Quartet. Timeless song, fantastic little solo. Left hand at 1:48 is just absurd.
Moar funkier = moar better. Funk drumming is where it's at, for me. This isn't a particularly technical piece, but it's got so much goddamn soul.
Madlib. Not classically trained on the drums at all, I'm pretty sure he just made the jump from the MPC to teaching himself how to play. Another great example of how everything funky is everything that's good.
And Elvin Jones playing with Coltrane. A lot of people can play the drums rhythmically; Elvin Jones played them musically.
