Not sure how fast one of those cars could run at Bonneville...but I don't recall ever hearing about the 264 mph run referred to above?? Any links to the story?

I am trying to find it but google is too cluttered up with recent NASCAR bs and it is going to be tough. The car was black and I think the run was in 1988 if someone here with superior googlefo skills wants to look for it.

Edit: When I think about it the 264mph may have been recorded by radar at one point during a lap but it was not the average speed around the track.

Biffle has an unofficial 224mph at TWS during testing which was impressive considering no safe barriers and as rough as the surface is. Teams used to use the oval for testing for Daytona before the repaving because they were similarly bumpy. I've been around it at 165 in the rain drying it for that mouth breather Kesolowski and I can tell you biffle is fucking nuts.

Edit: I was wrong, it was 218mph but still retardedly fast for the surface conditions.
