I don't think "one trick pony" really applies. Don't get me wrong, I really don't care that much about tesla. I just calls em as I sees em. Even if it was a one trick pony, that's one hell of a trick! 0-60 in 2.5 seconds really shows the superiority of the electric motor over gas. Plus being able to create your own fuel if want (solar panels) ... IC engines are just beat. It all boils down to those efficiency numbers. You just aren't going to beat 86%, with 25%. No way, no how.

Not even looking at tesla, the nissan leaf (and others) pretty much beat out their gas/diesel competition in several respects. All is the way it should be. When better tech finally comes along, the old tech should die.

Electric motors create instant 'light switch' torque. We've known that for years. If memory serves me right I'd say the first time I heard that was history class in college while discussing the history of the locomotive.

Battery technology prevented these discussions in the past with regard to racing. So.. I say good work Tesla, keep it up.

The Lightning lap is a great test. It's the US version of the ring. And the new corvette grand sport is 30 seconds faster for one lap. The tesla probably couldn't survive lap2. The new mustangs and camaros are also significantly faster and way cheaper.

And anyone that loves sporty luxury sedans is driving an Audi s rs, bmw m, or Mercedes high performance model. Teslas are prius' for the luxury crowd.

Yes the tesla is a one trick pony.
