I really enjoyed mine, wish I could have kept it. Those cars are so easy to mod and work on, so much room underhood and underneath.

Just crawled my happy ass under it to inspect the suspension. Found a completely loose tie rod, which explains the small amount of play in the wheel. Couldn't believe my eyes, it's completely leak free. I've never seen an LT1 that didn't ooze oil from every gasket.

I've always liked those things too. I remember going to the Chevy dealership that used to be on 635 next to the Galleria mall and talking a rookie salesman into letting me test drive it alone for a couple of hours back in about 1995. A buddy and I drove the hell out of that thing. I brought it back later that day with several thousand miles burned off the back tires, tossed the salesman the keys and told him I'd call him with an offer. Never called and never stepped foot on that lot again.

Always loved those cars. I had a black '96(shifter in center console and analog speedo) with headers and an air intake. My dad and I made a plug out of wood and painted it black to plug the hole where the "home plate" connected to the intake elbow.
I remember when I sold it to this kid his dad came along to check it out and asked me if it had been in a wreck because the back tires weren't centered in the wheel well. I had to explain "that's just how GM built them". He gave me the strangest look.
I wouldn't mind having another '96 if I could find a nice one.
Nice car too.

Funny about the rear wheels, I thought the same thing until I realized it was like that on both sides.

I worked at the GM plant in Arlington from 92 to 96 when they were making them. I used to work overnight and get to drive them around the plant. The export cars going to the Middle East were the best because they had no cats or other emissions shit on them. They also said "Caprice SS" on the side.
Some of them are going to be stiffer than others because when I worked in the body shop and the line would stop running I would just spot weld the shit out of the different areas on the cars for fun. It was mostly floorpan to rocker seams but there are some cars out there with one solid spot weld down the driver's side in that area.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.
