I stand corrected, the car is bad ass. Maybe even worth the MSRP.

I still would buy a loaded out Roush or 12-14 GT500 before laying that kind of coin down for a the R, but to each his own...

I think it's worth MSRP, both the R and non-R because it's a neat, sophisticated and special car. Love the sound of the FPC engine as it winds up to and over 8,000rpm. Would be a blast to drive.

The GT350 will be much more integrated and sophisticated than a Roush or previous-gen GT500, especially for road course work. If you care about straight-line speed and don't care much about turning/braking, the GT350 is not the car for you.

You are insane if you don't think a modern Mustang (for once) won't destroy a car designed on a chasis from 1979 around a track.

He'd rather buy a GT500 with more power than it can handle on a stage coach rear suspension.

For anyone who may be interested, the ford dealer next door to my work is selling the non r models for 5k over sticker. Still a bit over priced imo but seems most everywhere else they are selling for 10-15k+ over sticker.

They are gone now, but a few months ago I found 2 while day dream browsing at a small town dealer advertised below MSRP.

My contact over at Folsom Lake Ford called me the other day to tell me that the Performance package GT Premium I was expecting to buy had been promised to a buddy of the sales manager while he was out on vacation (long story), and as consolation said that he could come down to just $15k over on the black GT350 (non R) that they have on the floor. Needless to say he lost a customer that day.

Advertising and selling price are not necessarily the same thing, the dealer mentioned above has the same black 350 listed at MSRP on their website, undoubtedly to bait and switch.

Threaten them with social media blitz including google reviews (bad).
You'd be amazed at how much weight those two things carry in today's world.

Not worth my time imo. I've got a couple interviews set up in the coming weeks, that if fruitful, will likely change car buying my plans completely. Perhaps this was merely a "happy little accident."

Look for "You paid too much for that GT500" posts in the near future.

What does "expecting to buy" mean? Did you have a written agreement on that Mustang GT?

                              Dealerships suck in general.

I didn't have a written agreement, only because of the recommendation of the sales guy. I was ready to put pen to paper, and get the blower ordered, and he said that it happens too often that a car is delivered with flaws, so it's better to wait until the car is on the lot. I don't know if he never let the sales manager know that I wanted the car, or if the manager just didn't care, and at this point I don't care how it happened. He (the sales guy I've been working with) said he'd already found that same car, color and options on it's way to a sister dealership that he could trade for, and I told him to do whatever, but I'm not making any promises that I'll be his buyer at this point.

This, by the way, is after spinning circles to get a DIB 2016 transferred from another dealership back in July, had credit ran, approved, put a deposit, and all that. The other dealer promised us the car, and then called back 3 days later to say that they went ahead and sold it local. So yeah, dealerships in general can bite the big one.
