Looked to me like wheel hop prevented him from breaking properly. Which led him to try and feather out of it and turn too late.

I hate the multi-angle editing bullshit used to make shit more dramatic. If you look at the one scene right before they roll it looks as though there was no room left and he had no choice.

Several things went wrong i think,when he came down he was WAY to close to those barriers and probably stayed in it a little to long. The road was bouncy as hell and and he turned to fast,he could have gone right and out into the track area and that would give him more shut down area. Completely fuck up from the beginning but no one got hurt...
