  • Picked up a new daily for the fiance

It's a pretty cool car and she loves it. Never thought either of us would be Camaro people, but GM did a great job on the new '16. We personally liked it better than the other cars we test drove (3 series, Cadillac ATS, Chevy SS, Mustang GT, Cadillac CTS V sport)

Have you had any wheel time yet, if so how is it?

Cool car, hope she lets you drive it!

What didn't you like about the Cadillacs?

GM threw the good stuff at the new Camaro SS: ATS Alpha platform, magnetic ride, new LT1 Corvette engine, new 8-speed automatic, dual-mode exhaust, dramatically improved interior, etc. It really drives like a very sophisticated Sports Coupe. Smooth, very smooth, quiet (except when you nail the happy pedal), and fast. Weight is around 3,700lbs which isn't bad nowadays, especially with 455hp and 455lb/ft torque mated to a very fast shifting 8-speed automatic.

ATS is an awesome ride. We were looking at a new '16 3.6 with the 335hp new DI V6 and 8-speed. Nothing wrong with that car at all, but we decided the Camaro was more 'fun' and we fell for the LT1 Stingray V8. Also, pricing was about $5-6k less apples to apples.

The CTS V Sport was a '14 with under 10k miles for mid $40's. It was VERY nice. Smooth and that twin-turbo V6 pulled very nicely. Car really was great overall and I might have even slightly preferred it to the Camaro but for 2 things. For me, it was 2 years old versus new. Not that big of a deal, but still. New they are $70k which is way too pricey. Second deal was more for the future Mrs. It's kind of long in the side profile and it looks like a little 'grandma' From the front, it looks very nice, from the back, it's okay, but conservative. From the side....meh... She just couldn't see herself driving a "bigger" Cadillac as she's not middle aged yet.

Nice! I saw one in person the other day and I was struck by how short the side windows are. They're smaller than most chopped custom cars are!

I only keep my eyes on them since I got kids that have to follow us around. When that time comes, that back seat won't be as much fun for you!

That is a busy ass dash/gauge cluster.

Agreed, but the visibility isn't as bad as I expected. Yes, it's compromised, but you really can see fine. Fiance is 5'6" and she just move the power seat up and the car has blind spot monitors, so it's not bad.

This is true. No kids yet, but they are coming and she said she's limber enough to hoist them in and out of the baby seat in the back. We shall see. haha.

The whole middle part and upper 4 gauges are electronic and configurable, so you can have as much or as little information as you want (within the design parameters they give you) besides the tach/speedo which isn't electronic.

This new Camero is pretty impressive looking. I'd still be a new Mustang buyer if I was going for a new car, but I can't hate what the bow tie is bringing to the party these days.

I spelled Camaro wrong on purpose. Deal with it.
