Company computer. no way I could give anyone access besides our IT. Brand new Dell that didn't last a month. I'd have been happier with the old heavy Lenovo ones we used to have.

Interesting, because I haven't ever put an SD card in its reader.

After hard starting it a few times, it finally restarted to my desktop screen. So far running okay. Time will tell. I wonder if it could be getting too hot.

I'm changing my Screen name to Ambassador Stevens. Because this is the making of Benghazi 2.0. Requests for additional security are met with "can't justify if DOS says the environment is "permissible"".

But because this is a picture thread. Here are pics of my edition of HGTV presents House Hunters Agadez. This is a villa I scouted today. The price was way less per month than I expected. I still think I'm stuck in the bad situation (hotel) we are staying in though.

Just got a call, looks like I'm heading to Camaroon in 2 weeks. Life is about to get real easy. Not happy about leaving agadezsince I've got some time invested in the project here. But at least I have done all the ground work for the next guy...who was my old manager in Afg.

I'll be living at the Hilton in Yaounde' and will be the only Fluor guy there. It is a chain hotel with actual security. We will have great security here in Agadez, once we move the team on base. I am sure that I will be back in Agadez at some point. Heck, I will probably be in Yaounde', Agadez, Central African Republic in Obo, and Arlite in Niger too. But sounds like I will hub mostly out of Yaoundé'.

Heading to Dakar, Senegal to do an assessment on a hotel and get my Camaroon visa. Probably spend a week there then on to Yaounde, Camaroon.

I'll have a pretty lengthy assessment of the area and hotel where they put me. We are going to have to use the hotel again in the future for transiting employees from CAR and Niger to get their Cameroon visas also. Plus folks in Cameroon now will have to leave the country at the end of their allowed stay and apply for a new visa and Senegal is more convenient than flying them to Italy.

The assessment I just finished for this shitty little hotel I am in now was 28 pages long and took quite some time to put together. I can imagine that the Dakar will be just as lengthy. Plus I will have to make an appointment with the US Embassy there to meet the Regional Security Officer for DOS so I can get the lay of the land from the DOS point of view. With any luck I can start working on the generic stuff I can find on the internet while I am still here in Niger . Then just fill in the bare spots when I get there with what I can only find while on the ground.

But yeah, pretty much gonna sit around for a week and wait on the visa. Go see the city, hit the beaches, maybe go take some tours. Company provided hotel room with a food allowance there so I will only be out of pocket what I spend outside the hotel. I should be able to rent a car with a driver from the hotel also to be billed to the company so I can get around.
