I would be willing to guess we all grew into higher hp cars with no driver aids. Now people go out and buy a high hp car and drive with a ton of help from the ecm to keep things in control then one day they decide to turn it off not realizing how much they have been restrained. I bet that you are right about this. The first thing that I do when I get into a new car is try to figure out how to shut off all of the driver aids.
