You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

The weirdest was a Tahoe that was just outside the powertrain warranty cut off, wife was saying it was making noise but I couldn't replicate it. Turned out the axle was sliding out of the carrier, dealer repaired it, covered it, I paid for a brake job.
What was crazy was an AC issue I had with a Passat. It had this motor that controlled flappers that directed the AC; the motor stopped working and the AC was prevented from coming out of the front vents, and in a Texas summer, aint nobody got time for that. Dealer & all shops were quoting 12-13 hours to R&R the dash ($80 hour min). I did it in 5 minutes with a drill & an extension to pull the servo/motor down from under the passenger side floor board. One bolt held it in. Dealer sold me the motor for $140 I think, or maybe that $$ included their diagnostic fee of $80-90.Last edited by barronj; 04-21-2016, 10:28 PM.Ronald Reagan:"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it.
