  • The LX has landed

Spent most of the day yesterday running down to Austin to pick up the LTD LX. Got stuck behind a wreck in front of Bucee's, then normal Austin traffic got us on the MoPac, but we finally got there about 2:30. Took a quick spin around the neighborhood just to see how she was running and then loaded her up and headed North.

Stopped in West for the requisite visit to Nemecek's and loaded up on kolaches, and the wife snapped a pic of the LX. It was 38 degrees with a 30 mph wind blowing, but she wanted a pic.

damm wish I knew you were going that way, I just went down there and picked up a car as well and stopped at Bucee's.

    Congrats on the purchase!

I was just thinking of getting one of these the other day. I am about to have a Teksid 4.6 B head complete with harness and trans laying around. Would love to slap it in one of those and just do a little Vortech S Trim at 6-7psi. It would be a solid 380 rwhp with lots of torque down low in that ice light chasis that would be a total sleeper. Do a five lug conversion and put newer P71 wheels and brakes on it, tint the windows and call it a day.
Would be a blast and cheap.

Sure does look like a clean box.

I had one just like it back in the day. Its funny how many people are surprised when you pop the hood. The bad part is that they are slow. I sold it to a friend who did an EFI HO swap with a T5 and it was way cooler after that.

It's quicker than I thought it would be, but yeah, it is still slow. Damn fun to drive though, took her out on some backroads this morning, and even with a metric shit ton of miles on her, she handled the twisties nicely.

Not much to see yet, but here's a few more from after cleaning her up a bit today. Changed the oil, flushed the radiator, gassed her up, took her for a good shake down run. Everything works as it should. Hot heat, cold a/c, wipers, washer pump, etc. The only thing that doesn't work is the under hood light, and it may be unplugged, haven't traced the wire yet. The only real work that needs to be done is a replacement steering rack. Seems to have a dead spot in it turning to the right at low speeds, where it feels like to pump just stops working for a second. Other than that, all is good.

Clean, I'm jealous. The wheels look great on there.
