    Various stuff, some work being done, the crane I'm responsible for, sunrise, sunsets, flare boom being lit off on an adjacent rig...

    I just made a dropbox folder you can go look at because my photobucket is a pain in the ass.

          Siemens Step 7 series 200. I am learning to dig into the code a bit, mostly to see what generates alarms, etc..

            That's the moonpool. used to lower things down to do subsea work. Most of the time it's simply lowered over the side, but on a few of the really deep projects with heavy lifts, they did some trick stuff using that purple synthetic rope on the big spool to connect to the crane wire via the ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle), the result being a weight savings of 30 tons of steel wire not adding to the overall weight of the lift.

            So the moon pool stays open for such jobs, and during transit it's chaos in there as it's churning constantly.
