  • New car. 00 Trans Am Vert.

I saw this 00 WS6 vert M6 that needed some transmission work and general care. It had an LQ4 in it as well. Got out to it and in addition to a toast transmission, the oil pressure was reading zero. It wasn't making any noise, so I figured that it was just a bad sender, and I proceeded to drive it 200 miles home. Yeah, that oil pressure sender was fine, come to find out, it spun a cam bearing.

I tore into the car and found a lot of dipshittery. No pilot bearing, a completely trashed T56, 853 heads on an LQ4, cam retainer plate gasket blown out, oil pickup tube that was RTVed on, etc.

Many tears and $100 bills later, I have arrived with a rebuilt LQ4 with proper 317 heads on it, LS1 cam and a stage 2 T-56. But I am at least happy with the car. Still have some stuff to fix in the interior, fix the headlights, and get a tune, but for the most part, I am happy with it. Ran the production numbers on it and it's 1 of 71.

Very nice. People bag on convertibles, but when the weather is nice out, nothing is sweeter then tearing down the backroads with the top down.

Thanks to both of you. It's definitely been a challenge to get it going, but I really do enjoy this car.

I've had a few convertibles and I liked them all. The two biggest annoyances in verts are the cowl shake and the reduced interior room. Thankfully the TA doesn't have those issues. My 69 Lesabre convertible is the go to ride when the weather is nice and I just want to cruise. This one will be the go to ride when it's nice and I want to go fast.

I can usually daily drive the 69 lesabre from March to June, then from September to November. Hell, I had the top down on the WS6 today.

It's one of those cars where the line between the owner that loved it and the dipshit that had it last was starting to blur. It's not quite pristine, but it's not quite clapped out either. A little bit of work and elbow grease will push it back to a really nice car.

Define good money. I have more in it than I originally estimated, but I still have less in it than people are asking for decent LS1 F bodies.

Yeah, I sold the SN95 to a friend at my local autozone. He has really done a great job with it, it actually won 90's class at a car show. He lowered it, changed the wheels, changed the lights, fixed all the little issues on the interior, and did a lot of bolt on's.

Thanks, mine too. I never should have sold my 98 Formula to get my 92 Corvette, that is when my run of bad luck started lol.

well, in other words, I hope the price reflected the condition. The first post kinda sounds like he was "taken"....to which I hate scammers.

Sounds like you got a good deal. Those cars are sweet!
