It could be beneficial for surveying crops too. They usually always look better from the road until you get out in them

400' is the new legal height and I am not sure if the new DJI stuff has a built in limitation to not allow it to go higher but I assure you they will keep going up well beyond that height if you have the battery. I fly at 100 meters all the time which is a hair over 325' Its really up there and I dont see the benefit of going higher what so ever.

Also the wind is really whipping up there even if it is calm on the ground. Last time I was out flying I put it into GPS mode which uses GPS coordinates to hold its position and I took it up to 100 meters. I have a video down link from the camera that has on onscreen display that shows various parameters like height, battery voltage, compass heading, how many satellites the GPS is locked onto and it has an artificial horizon in the center of the screen. When I took off there was not so much as a breeze on the ground and everything looked good on the display. When I got to 100 meters I sat the controller down and was watching the video downlink and I immediately noticed that the artificial horizon had a pretty significant angle to it. I couldn't tell by looking up at it that its orientation was anything other than normal. I grabbed the controller and flipped it into ATTI mode which has all of the same flight stabilization characteristics except it drops the GPS hold. The artificial horizon immediately righted itself to level and it started to drift off in a serious hurry. So much that I wouldn't even call it a drift it looked more like I was flying it in that direction. There is a video on youtube of a guy that does this except he punched through some clouds that were rally up there

They are on sale at Dji.com for $499 and you can get a 10% coupon from them.

This one has GPS and return to home. It's pretty awesome. Supposed to keep them below 400 feet but I doubt anyone does. I'm out way away from any airports or air traffic. It's capable of hitting 1600 feet up. Most I've gone is maybe 1000 and that was really damn high. I got it mainly for 300 feet or so and cruising different areas for video.

I really want to do Cowboys stadium. From what I've read, as long as it's not a game day it's perfectly fine. I'd be off their property and I don't think they can say anything. They may not like it but it wouldn't hurt anything. It would be some badass video of the stadium and rangers ballpark.

          What drone did you have?

This one is the phantom 3 and its stable no matter how high you go. GPS stables it and it's been perfect. They are pretty heavy so it's stable

Yeah man. They are normally $699 so i was hesitant since its just a toy and i have no real use for it. But on sale, Id definitely recommend this one if someone wants to get one.

This one is 2.7k video. The model that is $200 more has the 4K. Nothing I have can play 4K so I was good with 2.7k and saving the cash

It was very stable, however it had quite a bit of roll induced into it to stay in place with the high winds at 100 meters.

Are these drones heavy enough to carry shy significant weight? I could see serious terrorist activity with them if so.

Wow! $400! No wonder I am having such a hard time selling my racing drone setup for $500. Thats a damn good deal. DJIs were 5x that not too long ago with the camera setup.

Yes, they can carry huge dslr cameras and massive batteries, gimbals, other equipment etc. You can even program some of them for a "flight plan" and it will fly the route itself.
