I'm not entirely sure what all can be placed on a minimum equipment list. Im sure it varies by aircraft. You tell me since your the pilot how all that works. I'm just the lowly mechanic that has to fix it.Comment

An Iberia Airbus A340-300, registration EC-GJT (at the time of writing, the aircraft has been reported on zero times on AeroInside while Iberia has been mentioned at least 19 times in total) performing flight IB-6025 from Madrid,SP (Spain) to Rio de Janeiro,RJ (Brazil), was enroute at FL340 about 100nm eastnortheast of Nouakchott (Mauritania) when the crew needed to shut the #4 engine (CFM56) down due to the oil temperature exceeding the maximum limit. The crew descended the aircraft to FL290 and reurned to Madrid for a safe landing 7.5 hours after departure.Comment
