They had cars back then that would run in the 12s, with that kind of power advertised vs what modifications they could have, I would guess a 300hp high revving 289/302 would easily get into the 12s. They could get a lot further with compression with the leaded gas.

    Just a thought.

I know the type though, they are the Type that learn from books and get confused when reciting what they've read.
Those numbers are horribly optimistic. The 69 302 was rated ar 220, but it spins the rollers to a blistering 116hp.

Not one mention of pop-up pistons, or a 3/4 race cam? I am disappoint.

Honorable Mention for "383 Bawlstuhd hemi" though.

Boss 302 and the Chevy 302 DZ engine were both rated at 290, but the NHRA rated them at I believe 335, and that figure was probably a bit low.

Ball Stud Hemi's... Sox & Martin, Landy and I think Carlton did experiment with them.

They weren't 383's though, and they weren't a prolific as the "king of the garage" made them sound.

Well, it's a good thing Ford put that cheap suit on the falcon to make my car in response to the Camaro that was a response to the Firebird.
