Nice find. Was it originally Medium green or is the SPID still there? Looks like it's had a color change from the dash and firewall. I actually like the front pushbars on 71-72.70' Chevelle RagTop

OK. So I took the truck in for the paint issue in the outer rocker under the door. Originally we thought it was bad prep. Well....it wasn't. We kept digging deeper and deeper only to find whoever put this truck together went to GREAT lengths to cover up all the rust. The inner rocker consisted of duct tape (yes, grey duct tape) in place over the swiss cheese panel itself, then joint compound (yes, like the kind used for finishing a wall in a house), then a nice thick layer of hard bedliner. My body guy said it's the best band aid/cover up he's ever seen.
So this is during tear down of the cab:
This is the frame...which is perfect just as we suspected after initially looking at the truck. The 350/350 is coming out with a newer boosted LS platform taking it's place.
This is the cab after soda blast. Mind you there's already a new floor in it, all new braces, new lower A pillars and B pillars, new inner and outer rockers and new cab corners. We didn't replace the cowl panel in the hopes that it would just take a patch. But as you can see it's pretty bad. New cowl panel will be here tomorrow.
The front fenders and hood are in very, very nice shape. However the bed was completely toast once it was blasted. Bondo just caked on and bad patches. So the bed is 100% new aside from the tail gate and I'm doing the wood bed conversion.
This was not the plan....I can't believe the snow ball this has turned into. But oh well, it's gonna be killer when I'm done. Goal is for the paint and body to be done by summer. I'll accumulate the drivetrain and suspension (was going for a simple drop but now probably coil overs and cross members from Wild Rides and PB). Get this thing ready for Power Tour 2017.
Now for the question of the day.....what color? LOL
Edit: Oh yea...the firewall filler panels from PB will be here today. Firewall will be flush aside from the necessities. Of course, vintage air will be going in place and an Ididit column...that and a nice Wilwood MC should be the only firewall penetrations.1990 Mustang GT - 8.17 @ 176

As soon as all the rust was uncovered I knew it had to come apart. And going back stock...well, I don't speak that language. LOL
I want it to be tastefully done. In the end, I can buy another, more original truck. As much as had to be redone on this thing I couldn't resist making this thing something special.1990 Mustang GT - 8.17 @ 176

Whoa! I thought it looked pretty damned good the way it sat.
It looks like its going to be bad ass now for sure...Originally posted by SilverbackLook all you want, she can't find anyone else who treats her as bad as I do, and I keep her self esteem so low, she wouldn't think twice about going anywhere else.

My advice is to do something period correct or close to it for the color. Two tones always look good on these trucks, and if you are dead set on a color that is off from the period, the two-tone can reel it back some.
For example....
I've always been a big fan of the orange/white myself.....

In case you aren't aware, there was some difference on the two-tones by year. 69-72' always had it below the upper body side trim and top of the lower belt moldings on the side, and of course top of the cab and doors like the orange above. Where-as the 67-68 two-tones were top of the cab and doors, and just below the lower body side trim (Which changed to belt molding 69'-72'). Like this one....
Its all personal preference, but I think that the brighter non-metallic colors look best contrasted with white, and in the 69-72 two-tone style, while a more metallic or darker primary color looks better with less contrast like the 67-68 two-tone.
Its no secret that I hate yellow on just about anything, but for some reason I've always made an exception on the Ochre/White (commonly referred to as Butterscotch/White) on the 71-72's....
Edit: Way more period correct example (darker).....
