I've always had a general rule for my vehicles to only put wheels that were available when the vehicle was current OR a newer gen wheel. If for no other reason so that nobody would think I didn't know WTF I was doing.
Some styles just don't work on some body styles.
But there's a super duty wheel that was only available in '04, and I've seen it on some 05-07 trucks, and it actually looked pretty cool. I'm seriously thinking about hanging a set on a 2011+ truck.
I've been thinking about putting a set of 05-07 20's on, but the 04 18's have a wider offset.
I'm thinking the 10yr gap and the obscurity of the actual wheel might actually come off as intentional vs. a faux pas.
I always liked the mustang Bullit style wheels for their throwback style, but they were still a modern wheel, so that doesn't really count.
