I know who George and Gene are too.

Sounds like we have the same taste in vacations Danny. When I was working for the airlines, I'd hop a flight to LA often, just to have what I called a car-cation.
SoCal Speed Shop (Pete is a helluva nice guy), the Edelbrock factory, Petersen Museum, GoodGuys races in Fontana...great times.

Absolutely awesome pics! Almost makes me miss Cali... almost. I'm eventually going back to Berdo for Rendezvous. Might have to get a group thing going (one of these days).

VERY cool Danny. Thanks for sharing!

These louvers must have been rolled. I can't imagine them being pressed w/o a MONSTER press. VERY cool.

I saw this image and had to do something about it. I'm usually not one who things everything looks better in black and white but I'll make an exception here.

Holy shit, I got all the old guys posting in here! That doesn't bode well for me. Glad to see all my boys in one thread. Maybe this means it's time to buy a couple of cases and fire up the grill.

I forgot that I snapped a few pictures on my cell phone too.

I watched a few LA-based movies before I left; Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, original Gone in 60 Seconds, etc to get some ideas for landmarks to check out. On the last day I decided to hit up a few of them. That's where the Roscoe's thing came in.

"Okay, how bout this? After we’re through fuckin with these Koreans, I’ll take you to Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. My treat. Just think, man, that Roscoe’s special, smothered in gravy and onions. Get a side of red beans and rice. Umm, that’s some good eatin."

After breakfast, went to Hollywood Blvd and checked out a few things, bought some souvenirs, that kinda stuff.

You never know what you're gonna see. I just had to get a pic of this 6' tall asian chick's ass. Holy crap.

Checked out Grauman's Chinese Theater and all the famous foot and hand prints.

And then I went to the LeBrea Tar Pits! Man it really brought out my geeky side. This place was awesome. It's still a hotbed of fossil hunting - they are finding more fossils today than they ever have. And they found over a millions bones in 1913-1915, when it was first opened to science.

Keep in mind that these are actual bones, not fossilized representations that have had their calcium replaced with minerals. These animals were trapped in warm liquid goo phase.

Then I stopped off at Barris' shop in north Hollywood. It was closed. Not much to see there, but would have been cool if he had been there.

well , the nostalgic cars you guys talk about is where i started. believe me there was a time when you had to be part sculpture artist when doing customs. there was not a lot of metal work then. just lead the piss out of it and carve out a car.

Then I took a little drive through Compton; even had Cypress Hill pumpin' in the Focus. I'm gangsta like that.

I wanted to see a couple of places. The first is from the opening song in Jackie Brown - Across 110th Street. And let me tell you, if the street number is under 110, you definitely don't want to be there.

This is the corner of 110 and Western. You might also remember Western St from Friday.

"Excuse me brother, what we call drugs at the 74th Street Baptist Church we call the sin of sin sins."

"Well round here, between Normandie and Western, we call this here a little twenty twen twen... right... cracka..."

"Just give me a little for my cataracts."

And this is the bar where Jackie took the bail bondsman to have a drink after she got out of jail. The bar was demolished a couple of years ago.

And that's really all the pictures I have this time.

Heck I'm still impressed your plane ticket seemed so cheap. What did you think of flying Virgin?

I want to go to all those places so bad. I might have to make plans.

I just knew they are new to the area. Southwest flights just keep going up, and so do Delta and AA. So I got on the Virgin site and if you purchase tickets a week out, they're $109. Since then I've been getting notifications from them about flights to San Francisco for $59, might have to do that too.

I liked them. Both flights were on brand new Airbus A320s. The flight attendants were young and well hootered. I definitely recommend checking them out.

Kind of a call back to the van thread, but I dig both of these:

Dude... you should have seen the interior on that second one. Probably makes you yearn for a skate park

Everything - EVERYTHING - was unupholstered, yet finished wood in a mid-century design. The engine cover had some padding on it though.
