    • If it's the North Austin dealership, they already have some pretty negative Google reviews of the service. May be time to add more.

      • Go around the service manager. Call the parts and service director or go to the GM/owner and ask to set up a meeting with them. Be the ultimate professional. Don't bring up that you own your own shop. What you do for a living could be what got you the negative response to begin with.

I have seen it work several times when I worked at a dealership as a service advisor. ....for Audi and Porsche, VW.

Owners and GMs will do everything they can to keep a customer happy. But if they think you are a shop that takes away from their business you are gonna be met with closed doors, unanswered phone calls, or typical receptionist responses for why their boss isn't available.

            • I agree. Go see the dealers GM. Or find out if they have offsite corporate offices. If they do, go over there.

Recently my step brother got a used car from a delaer that fell apart on the way home about 5 miles from the dealership. The dealer said "AS IS sale , tough shit" but we'll buy it back for 1k. Or fix everything for around 6k. I got him the address to the local corporate office. He went down there and after telling the guy what the dealer did they gave him the money back for the car and gave him 10% off the price of an 08' Ranger that was in awesome shape.

              • Well I spoke to Mr Morris Collier (service manager)and he pretty much implied I am lying and don't know what I am talking about and that the car arrived undriveable. He said his technicians do not make mistakes. I said "Oh, so the gas tank straps are not supposed to be bolted in all the way and should hang down like they are now?" He said I can bring it in and they will correct that. But your guys don't make mistakes and that is one. I asked if the brake lines should be mounted to their retaining brackets. He said he didn't know. I asked if a zip tie is Audis update to the parking cable bracket. He wasn't sure. I asked if gauging the paint with a screwdriver is what is in the service manual to mark the carrier bearings position. Again, he was not sure.
He did say he watched my car the whole time and his techs never dropped the drive shaft. Really? You spent 22 days watching my car? You are way overpaid then.

Someone linked me a nice aftermarket one piece shaft for $600 in DOM 1040. They do say if the shaft is longer than 46" they need to make it from carbon fiber but I think mine is 42". Bet in CF its over a grand.

                • As far as them knowing I am a shop, that cat is way out of the bag. I thought it would be a plus so they would understand I know the workings of the vehicle. Didn't realize that would be akin to me shooting myself in the foot.

                      • and stop acting like you know more than them. sure you may, but at the end of the day you and your $30/hr tech should have just fixed the shit. now you have a $17,000 yard ornament. PlastiDip LD garage across the side of it, and use it as your street front sign.

Im really leaving the thread now, sucks for your luck. you should listen to that helosailor guy and LAWYER UP. you're gonna need it.
