  • Few guys in the RS6 group have 6 speed conversions and that makes it a whole different animal. Trying to find the video I saw yesterday of a guy dropping the clutch at 4k and it just lit the hell out of all four tires. Cant launch the autos hard which is a shame because those two times I did it was a freakin rush!

Any chance you have an AWD dyno?

      • Nope. Hell a ZL1 can beat it. Its a quick car but according to the youtube videos, new Mustangs are quicker, ZO6, CTSV and about a bajillion other cars. Its just quick for a 4 door.

And yes, I realize the question was in jest.

I have been in my 96 Cheby Silverado (long A) for the last 3 years. To me its a freakin rocket ship! LOL

They are just super fun (so I am told) off the line with a stick because they plant so hard and the stick can take the abuse. Stock auto cant take a beating and while brake torquingto 2000 RPM and launching is (to me anyway) amazing, its pure hell on the trans as the car has all its tq available at 1950 RPM.

        • Found that sub 4 second 0-60 video I was looking for. Granted this is the station wagon (Avant) version but has the last 5 mods I am planning for mine. K06 turbos, bigger intercoolers, built trans, bigger fuel pump and bigger injectors.

1:18 is when he does the dead stop launch. I just timed from when you hear him nail the throttle to when the needle hit 100 kph. I am using a smart-phone though so if anyone has \a better timer, check it out.

Still going to be at least a week until I get her back though. They approved the new fuel tank and various associated items but its all in Germany. At least it will have a new tank, pump, filter, lines, sender, EVAP stuffs and straps all for free.

            • Gotta love Audi. They offered me a loaner car again due to parts waiting so I took them up on it. "But we only have a 2015 A3 sir." Gee, guess I will make due. LMAO

Nice little car. Small, but nice.

Did brakes, trans service, shaft seals, CV joints, complete timing service (well I have the parts and will do it weekend after next), oil service and fixed its few electrical gremlins. It cant have the notorious suspension issues as thats been replaced with a different setup and I just bought a spare set of new wheels at Discount Tire because they had a killer deal on PS3s. I have new Nittos on it but I plan on driving it hard.

This weekend will be fuel tank repair though. It was supposed to go to the dealer tomorrow for that recall but I was told to call the Audi Hotline to log it and apparently it was done in 2011 and they wont do it again. I am kinda ticked off but it is what it is. I let them know they need to change their procedure if its only a 4 year fix.
Now I have to hunt if I can get that valve or if i am just going to modify it.

One thing is for sure. I can not park it in my garage. I had to open both doors and air it out for 5 minutes before I could start it this morning the fumes were so bad.

But I will fix it. Aint nothing but a car. Parts seem to be on par with most 20k class cars with a few exceptions.
i didnt mean that as a dig at you more so just a german car comment

The parts showed up last week and I was supposed to have it Friday but the mechanic didnt like the looks of the fuel lines and the tank was missing a foam isolation block. They now have those parts but have to wait for a special glue. Yeah, I know. Its a foam block and a polycarbonate tank. I have wood glue that would work. Car has to be at Audi specs though so meh.

On the bright side I was planning on removing all the DRC stuff since the cars been converted to coilovers but the tech asked me if I just wanted them left off since he had to remove them anyway. One less job for me.

                    • did you purchase any type of after market warranty on that car? I ask because a buddy of mine had v10 M5 and something happend with the timing chains and dropped all the valves or something catastrophic like that. BMW NA wanted $28,000 to replace the motor. My 3.0 Audi lunched the engine aroun 80,000 miles due to oil sludge build up, and they wanted $10,000 and change to replace the motor. On top of all that, my warranty didn't cover any fluids, so i still had to go up there and give them another $1200 or so for fluids. But they too, put me in a new A4 which was nice.

                      • Specialty car. There are no more aftermarket warranties for them and if there were it would be useless as my car is modified. They can void the warranty because I am missing my dang belly pan.
One of the deciding factors of this car was its engine. While somewhat maintenance heavy is is very robust and the only blow ups so far were from GIAC chips, well and two guys shooting for 800awhp. They are not stout enough for 1000hp lol. Looks like 650 at the wheels is all they can take till you need better rods an pistons.

I am gonna spend some time getting acquainted with my 530hp version before I shoot for 100 more. LOL

                          • Some days.......
Get a call yesterday from Audi. Lift pump is swollen and don't fit in the new gas tank. It was ordered so will be in early for Friday. Fine, whatever.
Called back at 6 pm. Pumps on backorder and is coming from Germany. No car for me! *sigh* Fine, see ya next week.....maybe.
Get a call from Audi this afternoon. Well knowing they wouldn't overnight the pump I was ready for more bad news. I get told my lug studs are too long. They rub. O'rly? They rub? Something that's been on there for years and a part I have removed 7 times myself and torques to spec, they grew? So they want me to buy $260 in bolts. I tell her I will call her right back. Hoped in the loaner and made the 97 mile drive in 58 minutes. She was surprised to see me. Now I know its not my service techs fault. Mechanic told her, let her hear the constant "whirrshhhh" sound as the wheel is being spun so she called me. I told the mechanic spin the wheel. Heard the familiar sound of a ceramic pad on a drilled rotor. I have my tech with me and he goes under the car and sees the lug bolts are 1/4" away from hitting anything.
Seriously? You are the guy working on my car? I can see every Audi in the shop has drilled rotors, lets see what happens on this new RS7 in the air. Oh look, they must have too long of wheel bolts too because it makes the same sound.
So since the tank is installed I wanted to take the "Swollen pump" and see if it fit but instead had 3 techs explain the issue as nobody offered up the pump. Turns out the fuel sending unit for the lift pump plastic case is what has swollen and I could see the deformed hole on the old tank where it had ovaled a bit. So I assume that wasn't BS.
Those lug bolts though, that pissed me off.

                            • You would think the dealerships would be picky about who they hire, but apparently, they must get the IT Tech school dropouts to increase their profit margins. I wonder if they have a printed book of 1,001 ways to rip off the customer and milk the manufacturer at the same time.

                              • Yes! Found the dealer that took care of the car the last 7 years. Service writer who also owns 4 RS cars said the car was only worked on by the tech he uses for his. Car was very meticulously maintained and he is sending me all the paperwork. He was familiar with the car and let me know it had the Milltek cats installed last year as well as new O2s but the best part is at 65k it had the full timing service done with pump and all pulleys and tensioners plus had a power steering leak repair and replaced a worn out Bilstein shock. Was over $8000 on its last service. This saves me a ton of money and gives me great peace of mind to know there is proof of its history.
