That thing looks great and a lot of car for less than 20G's. 35K timing belt service? I had no idea those motors were wound up that tight.

Just figured you running all the way from left field... I keep my picture sizes small enough so that us mere mortals with shitty cards and 20" monitors can still see the picture without moving the screen around.

I am on a mission to figure out that damn fuel leak! After doing the trans fluid and filter service, replacing the center diff to drive-shaft seal, do front brake pads (which Alcon sent the wrong damn ones so thats on hold) and then go to do the rear brakes (Rock Auto sent me the wrong pads, didn't know the RS6 had two sizes) so since that was a bust I went ahead and installed the new fog lamp bulbs. At least they work. After that I was using the Vagcom to change the remote windows to "on" and asked my friend to replace the fuel level sending unit gasket since we were already there 9 hours on our days off and were in a hurry to go.
So I go across the street and fill the car up again thinking the leak issue was fixed. Nope. First thing I see is my gas gage is just under 3/4. Great, he had to of clocked the sending unit wrong. Cant fix that until I am below a half tank again dammit. Pulled in my driveway and smelled the fuel right away, crap. Remove the rear seat and pop the beauty cover. Sure enough, sending unit is clocked 1/8 turn too much clock wise. But the seal looks all the way down. I see fuel on the rear side of the sending unit but the forward half is dry. I stick my hand in the small space between the body and tank going towards the front and it almost feels as if the fuel is coming from up there. Kinds upset because I cant do anything until the I get about $22 worth of fuel out of the tank and then don't know if re-clocking the sending unit will seal the leak or if the tank has another issue on its top front side. So gotta drop the exhaust and drive-shaft and heat-shield and I think rear suspension just to drop the tank. Its do that or re-clock the sender, check it for cracks and then fill up again to see what happens. Dang! Forgot to do the fuel filter too. While I was under the car I noticed the factory style crimp on hose clamps for the fuel line on the filter. Don't know if an Audi service center did that or if the dang filter has just never been replaced.

I so hope its just an improperly clocked sending hat but with my luck I doubt it. It does stop leaking when below a half tank though but when that happens I get the small EVAP leak code. The Vagcom did have a code for overheat/or wire failure for the exhaust temperature on each side. Dont know if it was an old code because i havent driven it hard enough to heat the turbos enough. Gotta stay under boost for a few miles straight to glow the turbos as I have learned from previous TT Audis. Never noticed any pyrometers in the exhaust system. My Audi friend left that code there as it does not trip a light. Not sure why my Audi friend didn't want to erase the code but he said he wanted to wait a week and check something. Dunno. I was tired and sick of how much work we did to accomplish so little and just wanted to go home. Trans is shifting very smooth when cruising now and it accelerates better with the new vac lines on the diverter valves. Just this damn fuel thing is pissing me off.
Not sure if the shaft seal is working or not. Just have to keep an eye out for diff fluid drops on he ground.

              I need a nap.

Well she is off to the dealer tomorrow for who knows how long. Has the notorious flip over valve leak. I fill it up and 7 gallons go on the ground over 48 hours. At least its covered under recall but I am going to miss my baby and the dealer is over 100 miles away. They also are out of loaner cars so thats gonna suck bribing for a ride. My brother always insists on dinner. Unfortunately its always Bartlett's. It is the best steak ever but the bill is always $140. LOL

Well I hope its covered anyway. Everyone on the Audi forums says it is and I found the recall online and have confirmed for sure the rubber around that valve is gone and it just pours out. Mine is bad enough that they tank will be replaced. I was so dreading dropping the entire rear end to get that damn tank out! LOL

Hopefully you don't get the notorious European car electronic gremlins. That can become troublesome and $$$.

I put on my big boy pantaloons. Is nobody paying attention? Every single thing these cars are known for has been taken care of in the last week all the way down to a spare trans. Did brakes, trans service, shaft seals, CV joints, complete timing service (well I have the parts and will do it weekend after next), oil service and fixed its few electrical gremlins. It cant have the notorious suspension issues as thats been replaced with a different setup and I just bought a spare set of new wheels at Discount Tire because they had a killer deal on PS3s. I have new Nittos on it but I plan on driving it hard.

This weekend will be fuel tank repair though. It was supposed to go to the dealer tomorrow for that recall but I was told to call the Audi Hotline to log it and apparently it was done in 2011 and they wont do it again. I am kinda ticked off but it is what it is. I let them know they need to change their procedure if its only a 4 year fix.
Now I have to hunt if I can get that valve or if i am just going to modify it.

One thing is for sure. I can not park it in my garage. I had to open both doors and air it out for 5 minutes before I could start it this morning the fumes were so bad.

But I will fix it. Aint nothing but a car. Parts seem to be on par with most 20k class cars with a few exceptions.

While its not a real big deal it is a PITA. Whatever Audi used for that seal just does not do well with fuel. I think the valve is only available with the tank so when I drop it I may just clean off all the bad rubber and use liquid JB Weld to seal it in place.

The problem is the overall design of the tank. Its a big tank for a small car so in order to drop the tank the entire rear end needs to be removed as it covers almost half the tank. It will be a solid 10 hours I bet. I haven't looked it up or seen the procedure but have read enough to know the rear end removal is part of it. I hope its like an 03/04 Cobra rear end as far as complexity of removal goes. Those are fairly easy.

Well Audi has been staying on top of my situation pretty well and sent a truck today to bring the car to Austin so they can do what they need to do to fix the recall properly this time. Truck driver was a nice dude and was ever so careful with the car. I gave him a $100 and practically begged him to take special care of her. He then took 20+ pictures of the car on the trailer after he was responsible for it to keep documentation that the car is damage free. I think I took more pictures! LOL
Audi called me a couple hours latter to let me know the car arrived safely and they would get on it on Monday. I asked if it was stored in a safe spot. She kinda laughed and said its surrounded by new Audis and behind a locked gate. Guess I am a tad over protective of her. LOL I just love the car so much and it brings me such joy. It was sad seeing her leave.
