That's a pretty common theme with Porsche. I know when the Boxsters first came out you had to pay a deposit with a dealer to get on a waiting list to be able to order one. If they didn't get a unit allocated you'd either get a refund or wait for next years model.

The people lucky enough to get their hands on one could flip it on the used market and make $10k+ over list.

Did the turbo's have the same IMS problems that the other cars did? Those are out of my price range so I haven't been doing any research on them.

^^^Like said above, the turbo cars didn't have the IMS problems...but the IMS issue is easily preventable in the 3.2's also. I did the IMS mod on my 02', and along with a new clutch and single-mass flywheel upgrade, I was done with it all under $2K.

That bearing is a strange bastard though....my car was close to 70K miles when we did the mod, and the stock bearing still looked brand new. I've got a buddy who has an 04' model that shit the bed with just under 30K miles on it. When it goes there is literally no warning at all...just a hard engine stop followed by a stream of oil...and even stranger, it usually happens at low RPM. I still think it's total BS that Porsche never fessed up nor did anything for most of those customers who were left with $20K+ repair bills.

From what I've read the low mileage cars have the worst problems. Solution? Drive the FUCK out of your Porsche. lol

PS. I haven't seen any actual data on this, only hearsay from other people, so take it with a grain of salt.

I've enjoyed watching you tear it down to pieces and build it back up.
