  • X Pipe exhaust home build

My dad is a sales rep for a company that manufactures pipe and tubing benders. The last time he went to the corporate headquarters they were testing one of thier mandrel benders on 3" exhaust tubing. Since they were just playing around the bends were just scrap to them and they let dad have them for free. He thought I might be able to do something with it, so he brought it home. I ended up with several 180s 90s and 45s. Me and a buddy started working on building a system for my Cougar last night. Here are the pictures. The X is two 90s opened up on the elbow and welded together. It should work out pretty good. The part going over the axle could be a challenge though. I know it is not as nice as that sweet motorcycle exhaust fab that was on here a couple months ago, but take a look anyways. Let me know what you think.

Work looks good but why didn't you use bends on the back part?

Ran out of 45s and couldn't get anything else to work the way I wanted it to. Looks kinda funky but it should flow ok.

No hook up on your own bender?

I would love to have a nice bender for the house.

Welds and new exhaust looks great!

No shit. Especially one that will bend 3". I'm sure Brooks could keep you busy with that too.

I've been trying to get one for years, but the damn die for 3 on a non mandrel machine is over $2000.

Ive been pondering on buying one for a while, just can't seem to wanna spend 40,000 on a machine there is not much demand for. People already bitch about what 3" exhaust cost now.
