Idiot pulls fake gun on cops

I am quite surprised the officer was willing to walk along in front of the perp with his back to the guy the whole time as they exited the restaurant. It seems they had no idea whether this guy was armed or not. The guy could've pulled it at any time in the restaurant and shot the first cop in the back before the cop in the back knew what was happening, had it been a real gun.

Someone has to block him from trying to run, which he clearly probably would have tried.

I see your point, but it still doesn't make sense to keep your back turned to a potential bad guy like that. Just seems odd to me. I guess that's why I make my living behind a keyboard...

Anyway, good shoot. What a dumbass. Like Denny said, I would think twice about having that woman as a partner though. Or at least get her some more training, after all this is Palestine, this is probably going to be their only police shooting this decade.

First pulled out a gun....then during her screaming he began to take a shooting stance with the gun. 100% justified shoot....suicide by cop maybe....but if you wanna get killed by a cop...do what he did. Guaranteed you'll take a few rounds. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

I think it was described pretty clearly in the OP.. Guy was a suspect in a theft call (tried to steal a case of beer from a nearby Walmart) and was seen going into the Applebee's restroom.

Texas cops shot and killed a man who pulled out a gun, only for it to turn out to be fake.

But bodycam footage from one of the officers proves there was no way for the Palestine police officers to know the gun was fake.

No question it was a justified shooting.

The incident took place May 31 when Sergeant Gabriel Green and his partner, officer Kaylynn Griffin, were responding to a call about a man who had tried to shoplift a case of beer from a Walmart.

Employees told police they saw the man run into a nearby Applebee’s restaurant.

Sergeant Green found the man, James Bushey, inside the bathroom washing his hands. And ordered him to step outside.

Both cops walked Bushey out of the restaurant, requesting his identification where it looked to be headed for a routine arrest.

But once outside, Bushey pulled out a replica Colt 1911 .45 caliber handgun, prompting Griffin to yell out “gun, gun, gun!” as Green tried to wrap his arm around his neck.

Bushey broke free with the fake gun in his hand, then turned around as if he was going to shoot them.

Both officers opened fire, killing him on the spot.

I thought at the beginning of the recording the male officer said he matched a description of a suspect in a robbery.
