Below is about as long as I let mine get before I trim it back.. Working in an office and being a manager, I try to keep it somewhat tidy. In that pic it's about 2" (but I keep it brushed, rather than fluffed out).



On average, it's more like this (about 1"):



I have had a goatee since finishing active duty in 1997, but have been pretty consistently rocking the full beard for roughly the last 5 years or so..

Even a dime piece has flaws, and if you can exploit those by channeling the insecurities then the chick focuses on what is wrong with her, not the fact that she is fucking a hairy, ugly, fat guy.

I think classifying beards as being hipster depends more on the individual. If they are waxing the 'stache into a handlebar mustache and otherwise following the hipster trends (skinny jeans, non-functional neon glasses, etc) then yes... But old fat dudes like most of us here, are just embracing the fact that hair grows there for a reason, so why keep shaving it!
