Rick, even the short patches in your face will grow, albeit at a slower pace than the rest of it. What I'd do if I were you, and wanted to keep it, would be to trim it all short(er) and let the patchy areas catch up, then increase your guard to the next size and repeat. You may not end up with an awesome huge beard, but if you do it like that it'll be even, and given enough time and growth it'll look like it all grew in together.
Nate, I'm not sure what you're going for with your beard in those pics, but you might try going for a more squared off beard, it should help narrow up the look of your face should you so desire.

I've been debating shaving it all off or going Go-T but my wife actually loves it. That's a significant motivator here.
