    • I have a 70" 4k, I'm curious what height everyone has their TV's at.

      • Mine is on a stand, about half way between my knee/waist. Typical glass/metal stand for TV's. Got it at Best Buy.

I've never been a fan of wall mounted TV's up high for some reason. Probably because I'm old and set in my ways!

Me either, but I do not like stand mounted TV's. I like to have the center of my screen at the height of my eyes while sitting. Currently I have it mounted to my old TV mount, which leaves it up higher than I want it. I'm waiting on my new wire mount and I'll bring it down lower. A TV that large looks very odd sitting low though.

It's the same rule as hanging art........center at eye level. In most situations, that should translate to around 48" +/- for a tv when seated.

            • For all the fake ballers with 4k....

Digitimes Research: 8K solutions to start appearing in 2018

Tony Huang, Taipei; Alex Wolfgram, DIGITIMES*[Tuesday 23 June 2015]

Panel makers aim to tackle the 8K market starting 2018 when Japan will offer various channel transmissions in 8K, and the World Cup is held in Russia. Demand will continue to grow around 2020 when major sporting events will be held in Japan, according to Digitimes Research.

Makers such as BOE and Sharp have so far shown some of the most active development in 8K panels, despite that 4K TVs are expected to hold over just a 13% share of global LCD TV sales in 2015.

4K TVs in the Japan market, however, currently hold over a 30% share of overall LCD TV sales in the nation, with 50-inch and above size units accounting for over 40%. The nation is at the forefront of pushing 4K transmissions and is expected to be one of the first to make 8K readily available.

Sharp will play a major role in supplying 8K panels in the future and will use 10G facilities to produce the technology, while BOE aims to do so at its 10.5G fabs, with an emphasis on 98- and 82-inch units. LG Display meanwhile is currently looking to production of 55- and 98-inch units.

Digitimes Research*believes in addition to TV applications, 8K displays will also be used for public and industrial displays, art galleries and museums, public speaking areas, traffic control operations, specialized monitors and medical applications.

You may or may not know that I do commercial A/V work now and a majority of our displays are mounted between 4' 8" and 5' 6" to the center of the TV. If I can make a suggestion on a brand of mount, take a look at what Chief Manufacturing has to offer. They're the best mounts in the business IMO.

Are you mounting into studs or do you have backing in the wall?

                • I've always mounted into studs with lag bolts.

66" seems uncomfortably high. Hell, 56" seems high for viewing from a seated position.

Most of the displays I'm mounting are 70", 80", and 90". Once you get that size, you don't notice it like you would with say a 55". Many of the displays I mount have some sort of credenza that sits below them, so they need enough room to clear a credenza as well. Hell, some of the 80's and 90's get mounted at 60" center.

                        Totally agree....especially at those sizes.

                        Carry on.

Large screen displays are quickly replacing projectors in the corporate world.

My company does 80% of the A/V for AT&T. When I'm not out on the road, I'm doing the A/V for the workplace 2020 concept downtown in bell 1, 2, 3, and 4.
