I'm late to the party, but WTF are you talking about? If ANYONE is running up beside or behind a cop in that situation the cop should pull his gun every fucking time. If he doesn't, the kid maybe grabs his gun, maybe knocks him upside his head, or gets him to the ground while others rush in to grab the gun. He'd be an idiot to let that play out to see what might or might not happen. And look, it worked!

This whole "unarmed" bullshit has become a fucked up crutch that ignorant people use to make bad guys out to be victims. If someone is armed with two arms and at least one leg (shout out, Henry!) and they rush at a cop like that when they already have their hands full, they deserve to have a gun pointed at them and then SHOT DEAD if they don't immediately stop in their tracks. If I worked there, I'd be looking for a way out. If my city doesn't back me on justified actions, there is no reason to work there. Any other officer with half a brain is already applying at other departments.
