    Kickstarter ?

I just read an article about how many people have taken to court of drones, for every reason imaginable .I expect there to be multiple laws written about the use going forward .

    Sure neat tech though !

Hmmm, wonder if they decide to go belly up after a bunch of pre-orders!

            On the FAQ page:
When does the $499 pre-sale price end?

We are selling the Lily Camera for $499 until June 15th, then it will progressively increase up to the regular retail price of $999.
            When will Lily ship?

The Lily Camera will begin shipping in February 2016.

If you're thinking what I'm thinking.. There's a company out at the tail that will follow you via drone and record your ride.

I have no need or use for one of these but I still want one.

Now it just needs something to keep it from running into buildings and power lines, a further following distance than 25 foot, 60+ mph top speed, longer bat life and quieter engines, streaming video...

Collision avoidance is the only feature it truly needs. Everything else you've mentioned would be gravy. That said, I think they'll have a very successful product if they just deliver on what they've promised so far.

Two other thing that would be very useful to make this a great product:

                      - replaceable battery
                      - Ability to carry a GoPro or professional camera.

You can have/build one that does all of this, but not for anywhere near a grand.

Its a neat piece of tech but there will have to be some serious breakthroughs or ripoffs to make it at that price point. The IRIS+ has most of those abilities for $750 but after you give it the ability to record and then add in collision avoidance you are up to $3500 and it is 3x the size. Wouldnt have the ability to toss it in the air and catch itself but you could toss it in the air and catch it with the throttle stick if you are fast enough.
Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
