My Dad and I picked up a boat this weekend. He has been wanting one and was able to trade for services to get this one. 1999 Reinell 197. Mercruiser 5.0. 225hp. Was one of those "ran when parked two years ago" deals- but with a quick battery charge it cranked right up. It is in good shape - just needs some serious interior TLC and some deep cleaning. I'm pretty stoked.

Nice score. Hopefully everything works well.
I had a friend that bought a boat a couple of years ago. It ran perfectly but had a nasty crack in the block that wasn't evident until lake water started pumping through it.When the government pays, the government controls.

We've been fortunate with the one my father-in-law bought last year. We got two good months near the end of last year and put it away. I had to replace the ignition switch this year and it fired up like a champ. We took it out on Joe Pool and ran the hell out of it. I'm going to try to get at least 100 hours of alone time on it this year... just me and my pole (fishing pole).
Boat slips are an awesome investment if you use the boat multiple times a week.

Sweet score, I like the lines.
You can get a boat cover from Academy (spend the money on their most expensive one, it's not more than $150) and strap it down, it will keep the rain out, and the leaves and crap out too.
You might also pick up a large bottle of ethanol treatment/additive, not sure of the age of your boat, but if you spend $25 on the large bottle, it might last you all season. It's 32oz I think (it's clear bottle, dark blue engine treatment) and 1oz treats 10 gallons.
I know a guy with one of those, red & white, and it sounds wicked. Is the exhaust above the water line?
Be sure to check the tires and the hubs on the trailer, get a spare, and the essentials for changing a tire on the roadside.Ronald Reagan:"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."
Homer: "Bart...there's 2 things I know about women. Never give them nicknames like "jumbo" or "boxcar" and always keep receipts...it makes you look like a business man."
