And that's in Sanger? Man, further than I thought. Not an impossible hurdle, but just more than expected.

It would take maybe 3 of these battery packs to properly replace electrical supply, and even at that...without it linking to a solar or wind system, you're better off with a generator.

Sean, to answer your question, if you used this with only electrical supply from the grid, it would be less efficient than just using straight power. Thus...the electrical company will win.

Sean, just get one of these and you'll be set.

You can try to game that...but they're only 2kwh rated for continuous use so it'll never work as a stand alone system. You'd need at least 3 in tx, most likely more. Your system efficiency isn't 100%, and batteries only last so many charge cycles. You would never get your money back.

Man, he is a bad speaker. Cool guy and definitely an innovator, but maybe they should look into having a professional do his presentations.

It keeps the human factor as the face of who is running Tesla.

Yeah I get that; but at the very least get him some orator classes.

                        An Asian girl?

As for the battery pack, from a back up point of view with no panels on my house I would much rather have a natural gas or propane powered generator with a nice big tank of propane buried in the yard.

If you dont have wind or solar...I dont see the point.

There's not really much of one, other than using it as an UPS or something. I think it'll really take off with new construction.

Backup power supply for power outages during storms and such is really all it is good for right now. But for that it seems like I really good idea instead of dicking around with generator, fuel, maintenance, etc. I wouldn't mess with the powerwall if I was trying to get myself off grid, though. They are installing the first ones this summer according to the website, so after a few years they will improve, costs will drop, etc. I think you are right that this sort of thing will start to be really popular with new construction.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.
