I was on this thing last week. It's pretty badass, it's loaded with Huisman equipment, everything is state of the art, VFD / PLC controlled. The drill cabin looks like the cockpit of the space shuttle. It's off the coast of Louisiana about 75 miles.

Strychnine, maybe you know what's up out there, it's a Shell operated vessel, and they've also got the Olympus tension leg rig right nearby. In fact there are 2 rigs out there, I don't know what the other one is. They are drilling on the Bully, and I think then I think the Olympus comes by and sucks up all the oil, once the price goes up.

I saw a map of the various blocks out there owned by different companies.... and the number of completed wells, and there's a ton of them!

Olympus TLP is near Mars TLP, and you should be able to see Ursa TLP in the far distance on a clear day. I spent lots of time on Mars and Ursa, watched them bring in Olympus while I was on Mars. Yeah that sector of Mississippi Canyon is pretty hot.

Back then I was a completions fluid engineer. now Im a senior applications and technical support engineer based out of houston. Ive spent months at pretty much every deep water Shell installation. ursa, mars, brutus, auger and perdido.

I work for the company whose equipment is all over the Bully 1 vessel. All the lifting equipment - The Deck Cranes - PMOCs, Subsea and Surface BOP Gantry Cranes, the pipe rackers, pipe carousel, the DDM lifts, riser gantry crane, heave compensation, systems, the drill cabin controls.... all HUISMAN stuff.

I am an Electrical and Mechanical Field Engineer. I don't know much about the drilling side, don't need to. But, I always learn a bit more about it as I go. My background is PLCs, automation, hydraulics, HMIs... the offshore industry is completely new to me, as is heavy lift equipment, but I am getting involved in some commissioning of vessels pretty soon so I will be intimately familiar with all the systems before long.

We have many different clients - Transocean and Noble being the vessel owners I've visited thus far.
