            The starter doesn't care how cold it is and as long as the batteries have a full charge they don't freeze. Yes, the batteries' effectiveness decreases with the drop in temperature, but we wrap them in heaters. We also use emersion heaters in the oil pan, engine block (coolant heater), and sometimes in other areas like the transmission, differentials, hydraulics, etc. When the vehicle is parked it is plugged in and the heaters keep everything warm-ish. You can see the plug hanging down in the Cheez-its picture.
