UAVs will be the future. The human in the aircraft is the limiting factor of its performance.

Isn't that a good thing? Trying to minimize as many casualties as possible?

So is that what warfare is coming to? What next? Other countries develop their own UAVs and unmanned combat vehicles? So then we just send countless numbers of them at each other until one or the other run out? Sorry, but the human element has a place in warfare, otherwise it is just a measure of production power, in which case, China will rule the world...

Well it won't be going backwards anytime soon.

Think how much easier it will be for this country to justify military action when it's fought by people sitting at a computer safely here in the states that go home nightly to their families rather than spilling US blood on the soil of 3rd world shitholes.

Except for the fact that unmanned allows for the possibility, however small, that it could get its instructions from somewhere else.

Agreed, they will never do away with them, you cant beat the guy behind the sticks view and gut feeling compared to a kid in a room 3k away who is looking at a LCD TV screen. There good though will save a lot of time and money on things that don't require a man in the seat view.
