  • Old Skool guys, need pics of a famous old hot rod

Im trying to track down pictures and information on an old Troy Trepanier build back in 91. Car is called Bumongous, its a slammed fastback Buick, sort of a peach color with a wine colored roof.

There are plenty of pictures of it online, but NONE of the gd trunk. This car used to be taken to Good Guys shows where I saw it at an Orion car audio booth. When it sold in 2010 on the Barret Jackson is had PPI amps in it.

I wanted to try to duplicate the stereo it USED to have in it, just curious if anyone had any information from WAY back in the days, like 20 years ago.

Danny or similar, have any cool pics of it from way back in your old files?

I don't have any pictures of that thing. Trepanier has gotten better with time.

That thing was on the cover of Hot Rod when it first came out. They had multiple color pages showing everything. I bet what you are looking for is in that issue if you can find it.

They should have renamed it "My First Period."

I'm not a fan of the body style but colors and wheel styles change often. Just put the chrome back on the bumpers and light bezels, change wheels and paint. Big deal. If that thing was metallic blue with all the chrome and modern wheels, nobody would complain.

Yea I saw that, but it has PPI amps which are NOT the amps I was looking for... it used to be sponsored by Orion, (now they are the same company, but 20 years ago that was comparing a Shelby to a Eco Boost)...

I agree, I never liked the color of the car, Im trying to emulate the stereo it USED to have in it. I heard it at a car show and it was the best stereo Ive ever heard.

I agree... royal blue with a gunmetal roof or even platinum silver etc... large 22/20 wheel combo, chrome the bumpers, done.

I didnt want the damn car, just pics of the stereo. lol

As MattB says, it MIGHT be in an old Hot Rod, but I dont know if the car was Orion sponsered right when it was built. I was just driving, so Id say I saw it in 1994-1995 time frame at a Good Guys Hot Rod show in Pleasanton, CA which is just outside SanJose/San Fran. No camera having idiot I am.

One of my favorites from Troy has always been Chicayne. We were lucky enough to get invited to an open house at his shop back in 04'...it was when they did a big reveal for a 32' they had built for some old dude to put in his living room - Ritzow. The beers were flowing and it started raining pretty good that evening, the Chicayne was just sitting outside getting poured on...I was kind of freaking out that I was even near it, much less that it was just parked on the front drive in the rain. Moose threw us the keys to it and told us to go check it out...we could start it and checkout the stereo system, but don't drive it! Really cool! I have some pics from that night...I guess I need to dig them out.

John Meaney tuned - 1200hp small block that was still a cruiser, long hauled across the country a couple times.
